Installation Guide for 10-12 Ford Mustang Headlights

NOTE: Some vehicle require the DRL harness installed for the headlight to function properly.

Do NOT use dielectric or any type of weather sealing grease on connectors or sockets.
Doing so will result in connection problems and will not be covered under warranty. Please click HERE for further explanation.

NOTE: Whenever using a power tool, please make sure do not overtighten the screws.

PART I - REMOVE HEADLIGHTS

DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Whenever working on your vehicle always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal.

FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL

Start by detaching the plastic mount clips that secure the upper shield and the center grille.

Please detach the upper shield and set it aside for subsequent reinstallation.

REMOVE FRONT BUMPER BOLTS

Remove the 2 x 8mm bolts.

Unscrew the two 7mm bolts on each side of the wheel well.

Unscrew the 4 X 7mm bolts under the front bumper.

Gently pull on each side of the front bumper to release it from the mounting clips.

Carefully loosen the bumper by pulling it outward to gain access to the headlight bolts from the mounting bracket. It is not necessary to remove the entire bumper until you have enough space to reach the headlight bolts and mounting bracket.

REMOVE HEADLIGHT BOLTS

Take out the three 8mm bolts on each side of the headlight.

UNPLUG AND REMOVE THE HEADLIGHTS

Gently pull the headlight assembly outward to remove it.

Disconnect the headlight connectors to remove the assembly.

Please follow the same steps for the other side of the headlight.

PART II - INSTALL HEADLIGHTS

INSTALL ALPHAREX HEADLIGHTS & DRL HARNESS

With both headlights removed, now it’s time to install the DRL harness. You will need to connect the red wire to battery’s positive terminal, the black wire to battery’s negative terminal.

TAP THE FUSE

In order for the DRL to function during the day, you will need to tap the grey wire into the fuse (5A) route and connect the two red wires, one to the back of each headlight.

Route the DRL wires to the other side of the headlight.

PLUG AND INSTALL THE HEADLIGHTS

Connect the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) connector and the headlight connections to the new ALPHAREX headlight assembly. DO NOT USE DIELECTRIC GREASE!

After plugging in the connectors, carefully position the new headlight into the vehicle and align the mounting brackets for installation.

Reverse the headlight removal process to install the headlight into the vehicle.
Please follow the same steps for the other side of the headlight.

   

TEST THE HEADLIGHT FUNCTIONS

Test the functions of your ALPHAREX headlights to ensure everything works properly.

ADJUST HEADLIGHT LEVEL

After headlights installation is complete.
You will next aim the headlight at about 25ft against a wall on a level surface.

Clockwise to lower the level
Counterclockwise to raise the level

 

Please follow the same procedure for the other headlight.
